Tourist Visa Overview
For those who are planning to visit Thailand for tourism purposes, obtaining a tourist visa is essential. Moreover, it is crucial to understand that while this visa permits entry into Thailand, any form of employment within the country is strictly prohibited under this visa type.
Required Documents
To successfully apply for a Thailand tourist visa, you must provide the following documents:
- Passport: First and foremost, you will need a passport or travel document that has a validity of at least 6 months.
- Visa Application Form: A fully completed visa application form.
- Travel Proof: A confirmed air ticket showing departure from Thailand, fully paid.
- Photograph: A recent photograph (4×6 cm.) of the applicant.
- Flight Itinerary: A confirmed itinerary for your flights to and from Thailand.
- Financial Proof: Evidence of sufficient funds—20,000 Baht per individual or 40,000 Baht per family.
Note: Consular officers may request additional documents if necessary.
Visa Processing Fee
The fee for a Thailand tourist visa is 1,000 Baht per entry (payable in local currency).
Visa Validity
- Single Entry: The visa is valid for 3 months.
- Multiple Entry: The visa is valid for 6 months.
Period of Stay
Upon arrival in Thailand, travelers with a tourist visa are allowed to stay for up to 60 days.
Extension of Stay
Suppose you wish to stay longer or change your visa type. In that case, you must apply for permission at the Office of Immigration Bureau located at Government Center B, Chaengwattana Soi 7, Laksi, Bangkok 10210.
